GIS Specialist
Education Requirements: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience. Graduate of accredited ESRI or equivalent suite of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) courses. Equivalent military or intelligence community training is acceptable.
Experience Requirements: Two to Four Years experience using various GIS software (primarily ESRI ArcGIS, Arc/Info Workstation, and ArcView), as well as various geographic data formats and standard data conversion and transformation methods, for geographic analysis. Demonstrates proficiency in GIS analysis, data base management and visualization. Demonstrates and maintains proficiency with current and developing technologies and software related to geographic analysis. Advanced Degreed entry level applicants with strong academic credentials will be considered.
Functional Responsibilities: This GIS Specialist is expected to apply the concepts of GIS and Data conversion learned through education and/or experience to solve tasks as assigned, including but not limited to the following:
- Uses GIS program packages (ArcGIS, SQL databases) to input, edit, prepare and produce various maps, related geographic database information and other GIS tools and products.
- Assists in developing geographic database structures, tables, forms and reports.
- Runs and modifies scripts to automate data work flow.
- Responds to user requests for standard or custom maps, charts, graphs, GIS analysis, GIS projects and related information.
- Participates as needed, in meetings with client staff to fully understand expected project outcomes.
- Works cooperatively with GIS staff and/or Project Managers to complete assigned work.
- Proactively seeks input and clarification from others in order to minimize time spent in performing the essential duties of the position.
US Citizenship and the ability to get and hold a security clearance required.
