GIS Analyst
Education Requirement: Graduation from an accredited four-year college (Advanced Degrees encouraged) or university with coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Surveying, Engineering, Information Systems or related degree or equivalent .
Experience Requirements: Three to Five Years with GIS operations. Depending on position to be filled, subject matter expertise may be required in the subject(s) to be analyzed. Demonstrates proficiency in GIS analysis and data modeling. Demonstrates and maintains proficiency with current and developing technologies and software related to geographic analysis
Functional Responsibilities: The GIS Analyst is responsible for completing assigned tasks under the supervision of the Group Leader or Project Manager. The GIS Analyst, under limited supervision, assists in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of systems, software, GIS, and data integration solutions to administrative, scientific and technical problems through the use of computer technology. Understands and interprets client business applications, and is responsible for developing applications and products to fulfill customer requirements.
- Develops and maintains links between various databases.
- Develops and modifies simple applications and scripts using ArcObjects, Python, VBScript and Model Builder.
- Creates new computer programs or edits existing programs in order to produce maps and automate procedures.
- Maintains databases for GIS-related metadata.
- Writes documentation as necessary.
- Participates as needed, in meetings with developers and client staff to fully understand expected project outcomes.
- Works cooperatively with managers to complete assigned work.
- Proactively seeks input and clarification from other employees assigned to given projects in order to minimize time spent in performing the essential duties of the position.
US Citizenship and the ability to get and hold a security clearance required.
