GIS Programmer / Developer
Education Requirements: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university (Advanced Degree preferred) with coursework in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields.
Functional Responsibilities: The Programmer/Developer under limited supervision will assist in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of systems, data, software, and services. Assist in developing integrated solutions to Military, Intelligence Community, Emergency Management and Operational issues. Responsible for a wide variety of production tasks and some task supervision for ongoing geospatial projects. Understands and interprets client business applications, and is responsible for developing applications and products to fulfill customer requirements.
Experience Requirements:
- Advanced Degree with one to two years experience developing with ESRI’s ArcGIS tools. Advanced Degreed entry level applicants with strong academic credentials will be considered. Bachelors Degree with two to four years experience developing with ESRI’s ArcGIS tools.
- Strong understanding of ESRI's ArcObjects API.
- Strong Java, .Net, C#, and web application programming skills.
Job Description:
- Utilize ESRI's suite ArcGIS software applications with relational databases including MS Access, Oracle and SQL Server.
- Develop, deploy, and maintain GIS applications built with ArcGIS extensions and ArcServer.
- Develop mash-ups with other mapping technologies such as Google Maps and Bing.
- Develop functional applications from use case descriptions, write and debug code, create application user documentation, and maintain web applications and software releases.
- Develop and maintain client ESRI ArcGIS web applications and services with ASP.NET, Java, JavaScript, HTML, web scripting and SQL programming.
- Performance tune servers running ArcGIS and databases, including upgrading various server software packages in a timely manner.
- Assist in the management of client data in SQL Server SDE environment.
- Assist in the creation of new directories on IIS web servers.
US Citizenship and the ability to get and hold a security clearance required.
